Introducing DA 2.0 - The new Domain Authority has landed

The Domain Authority has become the industry standard for measuring domain names relative to rankings. We recognize that stability plays an important role in making Domain Authority valuable to our customers, so we want to make sure that the new Domain Authority makes meaningful changes to the table.


What has changed?
The following is a description of some of the technological changes behind the new domain management organization and their importance.


Training set:
Historically, we have relied on training Domain Controllers for a large number of unprocessed search results. In fact, this is the standard method in our industry. But we have fundamentally found a way to fundamentally improve it, making domain management more reliable. In particular, the new domain name management agency is better at understanding sites that do not rank any keywords at all.


Training algorithm:
Instead of relying on complex linear models, we turn to neural networks. This provides several benefits, including a more subtle model that can detect link operations.


Model factor:
We have made significant improvements to the ranking factors behind the Domain Authority. In addition to viewing the number of links, we are now able to integrate our proprietary spam scores and complex link distribution based on quality and traffic and a range of other factors.

Backbone:
At the heart of the Domain Authority is the industry-leading link index, our new Moz Link Explorer. With more than 35 trillion links, our superior data transforms Neil Martinsen-Burrell, Chas Williams and more of the amazing Mozzers' statistical work into true industry-leading standards.

What does it mean?
These basic improvements of the Domain Authority will provide better and more trustworthy indicators than ever before. We can remove spam, improve relevance, and most importantly, update the Domain Management Center with all changes made by Google.

This means that you will see some changes from the domain administrator when the launch occurs. We put the model on our existing Domain Authority to minimize the changes, but with all the improvements, there is no doubt that the Domain Authority will get some fluctuations.

What should we do?
Use DA as a relative indicator, not an absolute indicator.

First, make sure to use domain permissions as a relative metric. The Domain Authority is meaningless if it is not compared to other sites. The important thing is not whether your website is down or increasing - whether it is a decline or an increase relative to the competition. When we launch a new domain name management agency, be sure to check your competitors' scores and your own scores as they may fluctuate in a similar direction.

Learn how to communicate changes with customers, colleagues and stakeholders
Second, be prepared to communicate with your customers or webmaster about changes and improvements to the Domain Name Management Center. While changes are always disruptive, the New Domain Authority is better than ever and allows them to make more informed decisions about future search engine optimization strategies.

Looking forward to DA staying in sync with Google
Finally, we expect that we will continue to improve the management of domain names. Just as Google makes hundreds of changes to its algorithms every year, we intend to make the Domain Authority more responsive to Google's changes. Even if Google performs basic algorithm updates like Penguin or Panda, you can be sure that Moz's domain name authority is as relevant and useful as ever.
